Flight operations to and from Delhi and parts of North India may face disruptions due to dense fog and severely reduced visibility, airlines warned on Thursday morning. Carriers including Air India, SpiceJet, and IndiGo have urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
SpiceJet, in an advisory shared on its official X handle, said that low visibility conditions in Delhi could affect all departures, arrivals, and onward connections. The airline advised travellers to monitor updates through its website and digital channels.
Air India also cautioned passengers about the likelihood of poor visibility over the next few days, noting that operations at its primary hub in Delhi, as well as select airports across northern and eastern India and a few other cities, may be impacted. The airline said it is putting mitigation measures in place and will offer round-the-clock assistance to help passengers make alternate travel arrangements.
As part of its winter operations support, Air India has activated its ‘FogCare’ initiative. Under this programme, passengers booked on flights that may be delayed will receive advance alerts on their registered mobile numbers. Eligible travellers can reschedule their flights without additional charges or opt for a full refund.
IndiGo, meanwhile, issued a separate advisory for Chandigarh, stating that low visibility has led to operational disruptions. The airline said some flights have been cancelled as a precautionary measure to ensure passenger safety and advised customers to stay updated on flight status.
Passengers travelling through fog-affected regions have been advised to allow extra time, stay informed via airline updates, and plan for possible delays or cancellations.
