The cryptocurrency market traded mixed on July 20, with Bitcoin (BTC) remaining stable above the $64,000 mark, while Avalanche (AVAX) emerged as the day's strongest performer among major cryptocurrencies. Ethereum (ETH) also posted modest gains, extending its positive weekly momentum.
Bitcoin edged up 0.01% to $64,682, maintaining a market capitalization of $1.30 trillion. The world's largest cryptocurrency has gained 3.94% over the past week and 2.30% over the past month, although it remains 26.07% lower year-to-date.
Ethereum rose 0.12% to $1,873.61, with its market capitalization increasing to $297.57 billion. The second-largest cryptocurrency has advanced 5.65% over the past week and 9.91% over the last month, outperforming Bitcoin during the same period.
Among major altcoins, Avalanche climbed 2.09%, the biggest daily gain among leading digital assets, followed by Solana, which added 0.32%, and XRP, which gained 0.16%. Litecoin also edged higher by 0.12%.
On the downside, Cardano declined 0.45%, Binance Coin (BNB) slipped 0.08%, Polkadot fell 0.84%, Polygon lost 0.34%, Cosmos dropped 0.71%, and Uniswap declined 0.69%.
Despite recent stability, most major cryptocurrencies continue to trade significantly below their levels at the start of the year. Bitcoin remains 26.07% lower year-to-date, while Ethereum is down 36.86%, XRP has declined 40.31%, and Cardano has fallen 50.31%, indicating that the broader cryptocurrency market is still recovering from prolonged weakness.
