Raipur, February 10, 2026 — Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai stated that a healthy society is the strongest foundation of a prosperous state. On the occasion of the sixth foundation anniversary of Gaurela-Pendra-Marwahi (GPM) district, he inaugurated the construction of a new district hospital building, giving a major boost to the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
The new 100-bed modern district hospital, to be built at a cost of ₹18 crore, is expected to significantly improve access to quality and affordable healthcare services for residents of the district. The event was chaired by MLA Pranav Marpachchi.
Addressing the gathering, the Chief Minister said the new hospital will strengthen the district’s healthcare system and ensure better medical facilities for citizens. He emphasized that TB-free and child-marriage-free panchayats demonstrate how strong coordination between government and society can drive meaningful social change. The state government remains fully committed to building a disease-free, safe, and empowered Chhattisgarh.
During the program, the Chief Minister declared 52 ग्राम panchayats TB-free and 71 ग्राम panchayats child-marriage-free. The सरपंचs of these panchayats were honored with certificates of appreciation and statues of Mahatma Gandhi. Notably, no cases of child marriage have been reported in the declared panchayats over the past two years, while no new TB cases have been recorded in the TB-free panchayats for the last two to three years.
