Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) is organizing a number of programmes to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav (AKAM) and to make the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign successful. A Tiranga Rally will be flagged off by JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar from the VC Office lawns on 13th August, 2022 at 10.00 am which will cover the campus and nearby areas. Students and staff members will distribute the National Flag in nearby localities to encourage people to hoist it to mark the 75th years of India’s Independence.
A Marathon will be flagged off from MAK Pataudi Sports Complex of the university on 14th August, 2022 at 10.00 am. An Exhibition titled ‘Recalling the Horrors of the British Rule in Pictorial & Poetic Afflictions’ will also be inaugurated by JMI Vice Chancellor in Premchand Achieves and Literary Centre on the same day at 11.30 am.
The exhibition recalls the major events such as the coming of the East India Company, the Mutiny of 1857, the emigration of Indians as Indentured laborers, the Madras Plague, the Bengal Famine, the tragic events in Mysore, Bengal, Punjab and Delhi and the horrors of Partition of India and also the sacrifices of many Indian revolutionaries like Bhagat Singh, Chandra Shekhar Azad, Ashfaqullah Khan, Ram Prasad Bismil and many others including women through pictorial and poetic panels.
Hoisting of the National Flag will take place on 15th of August, 2022 at 09.30 am at the forecourt of Dr. M.A. Ansari Auditorium followed by cultural programmes at the Auditorium, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, JMI.
As part of AKAM, an ‘All India Mushaira & Kavi Sammelan’ is also being organized by the university today on the eve of Independence Day. Prof. Santishree Dhulipudi Pandit, Vice Chancellor, JNU will be the Chief Guest of the function and will be presided over by JMI Vice Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar. Dr. Syed Farooq will be the Guest of Honour of the programme.
The Department of Sociology of the university organized a Nukkad Natak on ‘Freedom from Substance Abuse’ today celebrating 75 years of Indian Independence and in support of Government of India’s Drug De-addiction Initiative “Say Yes To Life, No To Drugs”.
Dr M.A. Ansari Health Centre of the university organized Talk-II on ‘Potential of Millets’ today as part of International Year of Millets – 2023 at the Seminar Room of the centre. The Talk was delivered by Ms. Ritika Sammadar from Max Healthcare.
Students of Jamia Sr. Secondary School organized an inter school speech competition on the topic “Tehreek-e-Azadi Mein Urdu Sahafat Ka Kirdar” to celebrate Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav on Thursday, the 11th August, 2022. More than 20 students from Jamia Senior Secondary School, Jamia Girls’ Senior Secondary School, and Jamia Middle School participated in the competition.
Tiny-Tots of Mushir Fatima Nursery School of the university participated in a number of activities like Prabhat Pheri with Tiranga, Selfie Moment, Art Activity & Food Activity organized by the school today as part of AKAM.
