Bhopal, April 8, 2026: A key governing body meeting of Pt. Khushilal Sharma Government Autonomous Ayurveda College and Institute, Bhopal, chaired by Higher Education, Technical Education and Ayush Minister Inder Singh Parmar, focused on the institute’s development roadmap, budget approvals and major academic-healthcare expansion plans.
The general body approved the FY 2025–26 annual budget estimates, while also clearing the rate structure for advanced diagnostic services in the pathology department of the institute hospital, including EMG, EEG, echocardiography and ultrasonography.
A major thrust of the meeting was on upgrading teaching and hospital infrastructure. Discussions covered the completion of the academic block, animal house, pharmacy building and indoor sports complex, alongside plans to begin construction of the UG boys’ hostel.
The minister also reviewed proposals to strengthen critical care capacity in the hospital through the establishment of an emergency unit, ICU and NICU, signalling a push to position the institute as a stronger integrated Ayurveda-linked healthcare centre.
On the research front, Parmar directed officials to expand the 5-acre herbal garden on campus and emphasized scientific research on traditional Ayurvedic healing practices prevalent in tribal regions.
The meeting also examined proposals for:
- NABL accreditation for the institute laboratory
- Launch of an international research journal
- Construction of a 150-seat PG boys’ hostel and a PG girls’ hostel
- Two new postgraduate subjects
- Addition of 50 extra beds to support PG expansion
- A proposal to enable fee collection through the institute’s own website
In a notable research-linked development, the minister also released a study report on supportive Ayurvedic treatment for sickle cell patients in Dhar and Barwani districts, which could strengthen evidence-based traditional medicine interventions in tribal health.
