The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) has conducted a major operation in Ajmer district, arresting a Village Development Officer (VDO) while he was allegedly accepting a bribe of ₹5,500. The accused had initially demanded ₹7,000 in return for issuing a hereditary land patta in the name of the complainant’s wife, which was later reduced to ₹5,500.
The arrested official, identified as Mool Singh, was posted at Bhilawat Gram Panchayat under the Kishangarh–Silora Panchayat Samiti. After receiving a complaint, the ACB Ajmer unit verified the allegations and subsequently laid a trap. The officer was caught red-handed while accepting the bribe amount.
The incident has once again highlighted concerns over corruption at the grassroots level of governance. Despite receiving regular salaries, allowances, and social security benefits, some government officials continue to misuse their positions, forcing citizens to pay bribes even for basic legal entitlements such as land pattas.
ACB officials confirmed that a case has been registered against the accused under the Prevention of Corruption Act, and further investigation is underway. They also stated that, in line with the Rajasthan government’s zero-tolerance policy against corruption, enforcement actions will be strengthened in the coming months.
