Ambikapur | February 4, 2026:
The Additional Collector, Surguja has approved ₹44 lakh in financial assistance for the legal heirs of 11 persons who lost their lives due to natural disasters across different tehsils of the district.
Under the Natural Disaster Relief provisions of the Revenue Book Circular (RBC) 6-4 (Revised), an ex-gratia grant of ₹4 lakh per deceased has been sanctioned. The fatalities were caused by drowning, snakebite, and bee stings, reported from Lundra, Dhourpur–Lundra, Lakhanpur, and Kunni tehsils.
The approved cases include deaths due to:
Drowning: Karasar, Dorna, Babauli, Kunni, Dhodakesra
Snakebite: Urdra, Amgaon, Dakai, Kundikala, Shivpur
Bee sting: Amgasi
The sanctioned assistance will be disbursed to the respective legal heirs to provide immediate financial support in the aftermath of these tragic incidents.
District administration officials stated that the relief has been granted strictly as per prescribed norms, ensuring timely compensation to affected families under the state’s disaster management framework.
