At the QS India Summit 2026 held in Goa, Madhya Pradesh positioned itself as an emerging global hub for higher education, outlining a clear strategy focused on international partnerships, joint research, and innovation-led learning.
Additional Chief Secretary (Higher Education) Anupam Rajan represented the state at the three-day summit and held one-on-one discussions with delegates from New Zealand’s University of Canterbury, a top-300 ranked global research university established in 1873. The dialogue centred on collaborative research, academic exchange programmes, sustainability-focused education, and innovation-driven curricula.
Addressing the summit, ACS Rajan emphasised that in an increasingly competitive global education ecosystem, international collaboration is critical for positioning Madhya Pradesh as a preferred destination for higher education. He highlighted the state’s intent to strengthen research-oriented learning, global faculty-student mobility, and capacity building through structured partnerships with foreign universities.
The University of Canterbury, globally recognised in arts, commerce, law, engineering, and science, is among New Zealand’s leading research institutions, making it a strategic partner for Madhya Pradesh’s higher-education roadmap.
With active participation across multiple sessions, Madhya Pradesh presented a coherent internationalisation strategy at the summit, reinforcing its ambition to evolve into a global higher-education hub. Senior officials including Higher Education Commissioner Prabal Sipaha, OSD Dr Sunil Singh, Rakesh Srivastava, and Manoj Agnihotri were also present.
