The Network Planning Group (NPG), in its 108th meeting held at DPIIT, evaluated seven road infrastructure projects proposed by the Ministry of Road Transport & Highways (MoRTH) to strengthen multimodal connectivity, logistics efficiency, and last-mile access under the PM GatiShakti National Master Plan.
Key highlights:
7 MoRTH projects assessed for alignment with PM GatiShakti principles, focusing on integrated planning and a Whole-of-Government approach.
Major corridors include Salem–Kumarapalayam (TN), Amaravati Outer Ring Road (AP), Rourkela–Sithiyo Greenfield Highway (Odisha–Jharkhand) and strategic routes in J&K and Ladakh.
Projects aim to reduce travel time, logistics costs, fuel consumption, and emissions, while improving access to ports, airports, railheads, SEZs, logistics parks, and industrial clusters.
Significant strategic, economic, and social benefits expected, including defence logistics support, regional development, tourism growth, and improved access to healthcare and education in remote areas.
The evaluated projects are expected to enhance freight efficiency, regional integration, and economic competitiveness, reinforcing PM GatiShakti’s objective of seamless multimodal infrastructure across India.
