Jaipur, 04 October. World Animal Welfare Day is observed every year on 4 October as a global campaign. On this occasion, a state-level program was organized on Saturday at the Cow Rehabilitation Center, Hingonia Gaushala, Jaipur, under the joint aegis of the Animal Husbandry Department and the Rajasthan State Animal Welfare Board. The event was chaired by Shri Jaswant Singh Bishnoi, Chairman of the Rajasthan State Animal Welfare Board. The theme of the program was “Save Animals, Save the Planet.”
The program began with members of the Animal Welfare Board feeding cows with green fodder, jaggery, and cattle feed. On this occasion, Shri Bishnoi stated that animals are not only an integral part of our ecosystem but also contribute significantly to our economy. They play a crucial role in maintaining environmental balance.
He emphasized that compassion, sensitivity, and kindness towards animals is the responsibility of every individual. He appealed to the public to treat animals with love and empathy, highlighting that all welfare activities related to animals are, in essence, acts of social service. Shri Bishnoi further said that cows and other animals form the foundation of our cultural and social life. The message of World Animal Welfare Day should not be confined to a single day; rather, we should practice compassion and sensitivity towards animals every day.
He underlined that animals are an essential part of our environment and biodiversity, and protecting them ensures the balance of the earth. He added that giving up polythene is the biggest step towards safeguarding both animals and the planet. Animal welfare, he stressed, is not just the responsibility of the government but of every citizen.
On this occasion, the Board Chairman unveiled a poster aimed at spreading awareness about animal welfare, carrying important messages about our responsibilities towards animals. He also administered an oath to the attendees to collectively give up the use of polythene bags. Tree plantation was also carried out during the event.
Later, Shri Bishnoi visited Hingonia Gaushala and witnessed a live demonstration of a rumenotomy operation performed on a cow.
