
Vested Finance provides an online investment platform that enables Indian investors to invest in the US stock market. The company saw potential among the NRI segment. 10% of their current user base is NRI. They are aiming to push this number to 20% by end of 2020. The company recorded active users from 56 countries currently. Out of the current NRI users, 50% are from the Middle East of which a further 50% are from the UAE.
Mr. Viram Shah, CEO and Co-Founder, Vested Finance said, “Amid the COVID 19 pandemic, we observed an interesting trend among the retail investors. The retail investors have been buying stocks during this sell-off.”
He further added, “Indian retail investors have also been increasing their exposure to the US markets during this period. We have seen a 5x increase in funds deposited on the platform during the quarter ended March 2020 compared to the last quarter. In the month of March, there was a 2x increase in monthly accounts opened. Overall, over the past seven months we have seen a 30% month-on-month increase in the brokerage accounts opened.”
The observations have indicated that more and more retail investors are interested to create a well geographically diversified portfolio for the long term. Also investors are more interested to buy stocks of popular brands like Facebook, Google, Amazon, Netflix, Starbucks etc as these stocks are available at cheaper valuations.
