Agnivesh Agarwal, son of Vedanta Group Chairman Anil Agarwal, has passed away in New York due to a heart attack. He was 49 years old. Anil Agarwal shared the news himself on social media.
According to reports, Agnivesh sustained serious injuries in a skiing accident in the U.S. and was admitted to Mount Sinai Hospital in New York. During treatment, he suffered a cardiac arrest, which led to his untimely death.

In an emotional post on X (formerly Twitter), Anil Agarwal wrote, “Today is the most tragic day of my life. My beloved son, Agnivesh, left us far too soon. He was only 49. After his skiing accident in the U.S., he was recovering at Mount Sinai Hospital. We thought the worst was over, but fate had other plans, and a sudden cardiac arrest took him away from us.”
He further described Agnivesh as a strong, kind, and purposeful individual who grew up in a middle-class Bihari family. He was a devoted son, a protective brother, a loyal friend, and a good human being. Agnivesh was also a sportsman, musician, and leader. He studied at Mayo College, Ajmer, founded Fujairah Gold, and became the Chairman of Hindustan Zinc, earning the respect of his peers and colleagues. Despite his achievements, he remained humble and kind-hearted.
Anil Agarwal concluded by saying that Agnivesh was not just his son but also his friend, pride, and his world. He added that thousands of young employees at Vedanta are like their own children, sharing in this immense loss.
