The Uttar Pradesh government has announced a one-time relaxation of three years in the upper age limit for candidates applying to the UP Police Constable and equivalent posts under Direct Recruitment 2025, providing relief to aspirants preparing for the upcoming recruitment drive.
The decision has been taken on the instructions of the Chief Minister and a government order has been issued in this regard. The age relaxation will apply uniformly to candidates of all categories, irrespective of caste or gender.
Under the proposed recruitment process for 2025, a total of 32,679 posts are to be filled. The age relaxation will be applicable to recruitment for Civil Police Constable (male and female), PAC/Armed Police Constable (male), Special Security Force Constable (male), Women Battalion Constable, Mounted Police Constable (male), and Jail Warder (male and female) posts.
According to the government order issued on January 5, 2026, the relaxation has been granted in accordance with Rule 3 of the Uttar Pradesh Public Service (Relaxation of Age Limit for Recruitment) Rules, 1992. The decision follows the police recruitment advertisement issued on December 31, 2025.
Officials said the move will allow a large number of candidates who were previously ineligible due to age restrictions to participate in the recruitment process. The age relaxation has been granted as a one-time measure for this recruitment cycle.
