Lucknow, February 11, 2026: Uttar Pradesh Finance Minister Suresh Khanna on Tuesday presented a ₹9,12,696 crore Budget in the State Assembly, outlining a development-focused roadmap that includes the opening of 14 new medical colleges, three new universities, and enhanced financial support for women and startups.
Announcing a major push to healthcare infrastructure, Khanna said 14 new medical colleges will be established across the state to strengthen medical education and expand access to quality healthcare services. In the higher education sector, the government will also set up three new universities.
In a significant relief for families, the state government increased financial assistance for the marriage of daughters from ₹50,000 to ₹1 lakh. Additionally, ₹400 crore has been allocated for distribution of scooters to girl students, aimed at improving mobility and encouraging higher education participation among women.
Presenting the broader economic outlook, Khanna stated that Uttar Pradesh’s Gross State Domestic Product (GSDP) for 2024–25 is estimated at ₹30.25 lakh crore, marking a 13.4% increase over the previous year. He added that per capita income has risen and highlighted that the state ranks number one in agricultural production.
Emphasising entrepreneurship, the Finance Minister said Uttar Pradesh is emerging as a leader in the startup ecosystem, reinforcing the government’s focus on job creation and economic expansion.
The Budget signals the state government’s continued emphasis on healthcare expansion, women empowerment, education infrastructure, agriculture leadership, and startup-driven growth as key pillars of its development agenda.
