New Delhi: Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar announced the launch of registrations for the PM Kisan Maan Dhan Yojana, a pension scheme aimed at providing social security to small and marginal farmers.
Under the voluntary and contributory scheme, farmers aged 18 to 40 years can enroll by making monthly contributions ranging from ₹55 to ₹200. Upon attaining the age of 60, beneficiaries will receive a monthly pension of ₹3,000. The Central Government will contribute an equal amount to the pension fund.
Managed by Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC), the scheme also includes provisions for spouse benefits, family pension, and voluntary exit options. Enrollment began through Common Service Centres (CSCs) across the country.
The government said the initiative is designed to strengthen financial security for farmers during old age and complement existing welfare measures such as the PM-Kisan scheme.
