The Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB), Udaipur, on Monday arrested a forest guard posted at the Kaatarwas forest range in Kherwada, Udaipur district, after he was caught red-handed accepting a bribe of ₹80,000.
According to ACB officials, the accused forest guard, along with another official, had allegedly demanded a bribe from a timber trader in exchange for releasing a truck loaded with wooden logs. The vehicle had been seized earlier by forest staff during a routine patrol.
Truck Seized, Bribe Demanded
The complainant, who trades in timber, stated that on 29 November 2025, his truck (Registration No. GJ 09 AU 1283) carrying wooden logs to Kherwada was detained by forest authorities. A second vehicle (RJ 27 GB 4806) was also stopped, and the drivers were allegedly threatened and asked to pay money for the release of the vehicles.
On 30 November 2025, the forest guard allegedly demanded a bribe of ₹80,000 to settle the matter.
Trap Laid; Officer Arrested
Acting swiftly on the verified complaint, the ACB team—under the supervision of senior officials—laid a trap at the Kaatarwas forest checkpost today. During the operation, the forest guard was caught accepting ₹80,000 in bribe money.
He was immediately taken into custody.
Further Investigation Underway
Senior officers of the ACB confirmed that the accused would be interrogated further, and additional actions will follow as per anti-corruption procedures.
The ACB said strict action will be taken against any officer involved in corrupt practices.
