Dr. Nazim Husain Al-Jafri, Registrar and Controller of Examination, Prof. Tokeer Ahmad, Professor at Department of Chemistry and Dr. M. Irfan Qureshi, Associate Professor at Department of Biotechnology and the Secretary of Jamia Teacher’s Association, Jamia Millia Islamia have been the recipient for the Maulana Abdul Kalam Azad Excellence Award of Education for the year 2020.
The said Awards are highly reputed and conferred by the Shikshak Kalyan Foundation annually. Prof. Anil D. Sahasrabudhe, Chairman of All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE)and Prof. Sridhar Srivastava, Director, NCERT felicitates these top Jamia Employees by presenting the award during award felicitation ceremony at NCERT Complex New Delhi on National Science Day, 28th February 2021, convened by Dr. Jagdish Kumar Vig.Dr. Nazim Husain Al-Jafri is presently the Registrar and Controller of Examination of Jamia Millia Islamia.
Prior to JMI, Dr. Jafri served AMU for 35 years in various capacities. Dr. Jafri also served as Registrar and Controller to many other universities of India in different times. Dr. Jafri authored several research articles in International journals and contributed to several books as article author. Dr. Jafri has remained active for effective education reforms in past several decades.Prof. Tokeer Ahmad did his masters from IIT Roorkee and Ph.D. from IIT Delhi (2006) in the area of Nano-Chemistry.
Immediately after PhD, he joined JMI, New Delhi in 2006 and became full Professor of Chemistry in 2019. His research interest includes the development of advanced nanomaterials for photo/electro-catalysis, nanocatalysis, gas-sensing and energy applications. He has supervised 9 PhD’s, 71 post graduate students and currently supervising 7 Ph.D. students. Dr. Ahmad has been instrumental to receive eight research projects from MHRD-SPARC, DST, CSIR, UGC and Saudi Arabia. Dr. Ahmad has published 116 research papers in peer-reviewed international journals and authored books on Principles of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology, Nanoscience and Technology to his credit.
His current research citation is 3545 with an h-index of 35 and i10-index of 74. Dr. Ahmad has been the active member of various National and International academic societies such as CRSI, MRSI, ISCAS, SMC BARC, ACT Mumbai, ACS, American Nano-society etc. and also serving NPG’s Scientific Reports journal as an editorial board member. He has been active reviewer of 94 different international journals.
Dr. Ahmad has delivered 86 Invited talks and presented 120 conference research papers at National and International platforms. Prof. Ahmad has received DST-DFG award from Govt. of India (2009), ISCAS Medal (2011) and prestigious Inspired Teacher’s award from Hon’ble President of India in 2015. Prof. Ahmad has received the “Distinguished Scientist Award” for the year 2019 from the Indian Association of Solid State Chemists and Allied Scientists due to his outstanding contribution in the area of chemical sciences and also elected as Member of National Academy of Sciences India.
Recently, Prof. Ahmad has been figured in World Top 2% Scientists by Stanford University, USA.Dr. M. Irfan Qureshi, Associate Professor in Department of Biotechnology, Jamia is a Plant Biotechnologist who has published more than 70 research articles in internationally reputed peer reviewed journals. He has guided 12 Ph.Ds and completed 5 research projects successfully. Dr. Qureshi has been a recipient of Italian Ministry Young Scientist Award, DST Young Scientist Award, INSA-DFG (Germany) visiting Scientist Award and Erasmus Plus Teacher (Poland/European Union) Award, etc.
Dr. Qureshi has delivered around 50 invited talks and participated in more than 150 conferences. He has also successfully organised 2 International conferences as an Organizing Secretary.Prof. Najma Akhtar, the Vice-Chancellor Jamia Millia Islamia expressed her happiness on the excellence award of education and congratulated the recipient Dr. Jafri, Prof. Tokeer and Dr.M.
