
Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) (BSE: 532540, NSE: TCS), a leading global IT services, consulting and business solutions organization, has announced that a student from Swami Vivekanand Government Model School, Suratgarh, has won the Rajasthan State Finals in the 2020 edition of its Rural IT Quiz. The program was conducted in coordination with the Rajasthan Council of School Education Samagra Shiksha.
This year, the quiz was re-imagined as a combination of online tests and virtual quiz shows, providing students with an engaging digital experience. The quiz witnessed participation from 32 districts across the state, with students from class VIII to XII participating in the program. After a preliminary online test, six students qualified for the virtual finals. The Finals had five segments – Byte Abundance, Tech Vision, Tech Cloud, Tech Agile and Tech Ecosystem – which tested students’ knowledge in the IT sphere, and prompted them to think laterally.
The results of the Rajasthan Finals of the Rural IT Quiz are as below:
- Winner : Himanshu Maakar – Swami Vivekanand Government Model School, Suratgarh
- Runner-up: Mohit Ratan – Swami Vivekanand Government Model School, Anupgarh
The winner won gift vouchers worth Rs 10,000 and the runners-up, received vouchers worth Rs 7,000. All participants also received certificates, while teachers received a special recognition certificate.
TCS has been organizing the Rural IT Quiz since 2000 in association with the Department of Electronics, IT, BT and Science and Technology, Government of Karnataka, to enhance IT awareness amongst students from smaller towns and districts across six states in India, and keep them abreast with the latest developments in the world of technology. This program has reached over 18 million students till date.
The 2020 edition of the quiz consists of six regional rounds across Gujarat, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan and Karnataka, winners of which will compete at the National Finals in November. Prizes at the National level include TCS educational scholarships of Rs 1,00,000 for the winners, and Rs 50,000 for the runners up.
