Indian equity markets signalled a weak start to the trading session on Monday, July 20, with the Nifty 50 declining more than 140 points in the pre-open session amid cautious investor sentiment. Meanwhile, the commodity market opened on a positive note, with Gold, Silver and Crude Oil futures trading higher on MCX.
During the pre-open session, Nifty 50 was trading at 24,191.40, down 142.90 points (0.59%). The Sensex was quoted around 78,151.45, indicating a negative start for benchmark indices.

The pre-open session suggests traders remain cautious ahead of the day's trading, even as gains in precious metals and crude oil point to continued buying interest in the commodity market. Investors will closely track global market cues, corporate earnings, foreign institutional investor (FII) activity and crude oil movements for further direction during the session.
