SpiceJet, the country’s favourite airline, has achieved another significant milestone by inducting its 100th aircraft – a Boeing 737 – into its fleet.
The airline, India’s largest regional carrier, today announced the launch of 21 new domestic and international flights. These include four new flights connecting Jharsuguda in Odisha, further strengthening SpiceJet’s commitment to enhancing connectivity between metro and non-metro cities. The new flights will commence operations in a phased manner starting January 12, 2021.
After successfully connecting Delhi with Ras Al-Khaimah, SpiceJet will now introduce two new weekly flights from Mumbai to Ras Al-Khaimah, effective January 15, 2021, and increase the frequency on the Delhi–Ras Al-Khaimah sector to four flights per week.
SpiceJet will become the first and only airline to connect Jharsuguda directly with Mumbai and Bengaluru. Additionally, the airline will now deploy a Boeing 737 on the Delhi–Jharsuguda route instead of a Bombardier Q400, offering enhanced capacity. SpiceJet already connects Jharsuguda with Hyderabad and Kolkata.
In a bid to strengthen connectivity between metros and key non-metro destinations, the airline has also launched new daily non-stop flights connecting Hyderabad with Visakhapatnam, Tirupati, and Vijayawada. Other new routes include Bengaluru–Belagavi–Bengaluru and Mumbai–Porbandar–Mumbai.
Furthermore, SpiceJet will introduce new flights on the Kolkata–Kochi and Kochi–Delhi sectors. The airline has also increased frequency to daily on the Delhi–Jalandhar–Delhi route and added a third frequency on the Delhi–Dharamshala–Delhi route.
The airline will operate a mix of Boeing 737 and Bombardier Q400 aircraft on these routes.
Shilpa Bhatia, Chief Commercial Officer, SpiceJet, said:
“Providing air connectivity to smaller towns and cities has always been a top priority for SpiceJet. We are delighted to announce 21 new flights that will offer passengers greater flexibility and affordable options. We see immense potential on these routes, catering to the growing demand from both leisure and business travellers while enhancing connectivity between metros and non-metros.”
“We have been relentlessly working to enhance air connectivity for Jharsuguda, and are pleased to announce several new flights connecting the city with key metros such as Mumbai and Bengaluru,” she added.
All newly launched routes will feature daily direct flights, except for the Mumbai–Jharsuguda–Mumbai and Bengaluru–Jharsuguda–Bengaluru sectors, which will operate four times a week (Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday). The Hyderabad–Vijayawada–Hyderabad and Hyderabad–Tirupati–Hyderabad sectors will operate six days a week.
