New Delhi, Feb 18, 2026: Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Virendra Kumar inaugurated a newly established Souvenir Sales Centre at the Dr. Ambedkar International Centre, marking a significant step toward promoting cultural heritage, creative entrepreneurship, and institutional support for artisans.
The programme began with floral tributes to the 18-foot statue of B. R. Ambedkar, sculpted by renowned artist Ram V. Sutar. The minister paid homage to Ambedkar’s ideals of equality, justice, and intellectual awakening.
Following the tribute, the Souvenir Sales Centre was formally inaugurated. The centre features publications on Ambedkar’s life and legacy, memorabilia, handcrafted products, and culturally inspired items reflecting constitutional values and social reform.
In his address, the minister emphasized the need to preserve and promote India’s diverse artistic traditions. He noted that such initiatives create sustainable livelihood opportunities for artisans and creative communities while strengthening inclusive development and empowerment. Senior ministry officials, scholars, researchers, and invited guests were present at the occasion.
