At the ongoing 14-day India International Trade Fair in New Delhi, the Rajasthan Pavilion is drawing strong attention for its lac products, especially traditional lac bangles, which are proving to be a major attraction among women visitors.
Lac artisans Smt. Samina and Shri Abdul Shahid shared that lac holds a special place in Indian culture and is considered highly auspicious. For women, it symbolizes marital bliss. Lac bangles and other items are traditionally exchanged during weddings, festivals such as Teej, and on other joyous occasions.
At another stall, artisan Shri Wasir Ahmed, who is also showcasing lac products, said that there is high demand for a variety of items including lac bangles, decorative and daily-use products, incense holders, miniature elephants, horses and camels, keychains, photo frames, mirrors, jewellery boxes, table diaries and more.
The trade fair is providing a significant platform to Rajasthan’s lac artisans, helping promote women entrepreneurship and self-employment in the state.
