Rajasthan News: Bhajanlal Government Abolishes 9 Districts and 3 Divisions
The Bhajanlal Sharma government in Rajasthan has decided to abolish nine newly created districts and three divisions, which were earlier formed by the previous Ashok Gehlot-led government. The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting of the Bhajanlal Sharma government. Following this decision, Rajasthan will now have 41 districts and seven divisions.
Abolished Districts and Divisions
The districts that have been abolished include:
- Dudu
- Kekri
- Shahpura
- Neem Ka Thana
- Gangapur City
- Jaipur Rural
- Jodhpur Rural
- Anupgarh
- Sanchore
Additionally, the divisions of Pali, Sikar, and Banswara have also been abolished.
Remaining Districts
After the abolition of nine districts, the newly formed districts that remain are:
- Balotra
- Khairthal-Tijara
- Beawar
- Kotputli-Behror
- Didwana-Kuchaman
- Phalodi
- Salumber
Criticism of the Previous Government
After the cabinet meeting, Minister Jogaram Patel criticized the decision of the previous Ashok Gehlot government, stating, "Since the formation of Rajasthan in 1956, there were 26 districts for a long time. Later, seven more districts were added. However, the Congress-led Gehlot government created 17 new districts and three divisions towards the end of its tenure. Though the decision was justified based on population criteria, it lacked proper groundwork."

The 17 new districts and three divisions formed by the previous Gehlot government included:

- Balotra
- Didwana
- Phalodi
- Anupgarh
- Jodhpur Rural
- Salumber
- Sanchore
- Shahpura
- Neem Ka Thana

- Khairthal-Deeg
- Kotputli
- Beawar
- Kekri
- Dudu
The divisions of Sikar, Pali, and Banswara were also created during this period.
