Jaipur, March 30, 2026 — In a major push against drug abuse and trafficking, Chief Secretary V. Srinivas chaired a high-level review meeting of the State NCORD (Narco Coordination Centre) at the Secretariat, calling for a coordinated, multi-agency crackdown across Rajasthan.
Emphasising collective responsibility, the Chief Secretary said that public participation is crucial to eliminating the menace of drugs, and directed all departments to work in close coordination for effective enforcement.
Statewide Destruction Drive from April 1
A key decision taken during the meeting was to launch a state-wide अभियान from April 1 to April 30 to dispose of all seized drugs and narcotic substances lying in police station storerooms. Authorities have also been instructed to take action for the disposal of vehicles used in drug trafficking, as per legal procedures.
Strict Action Against Illegal Cultivation
The government has adopted a zero-tolerance approach toward illegal cultivation of narcotic crops. Departments have been directed to:
- Identify illegal cultivation on revenue, forest, and agricultural land
- Deny government welfare benefits to those found guilty
- Fix accountability of local officials for lapses
Relevant directives will be issued by the Home Department to the Forest and Revenue departments for enforcement.
Focus on Awareness & Prevention
The Chief Secretary stressed the need for large-scale awareness campaigns, directing:
- School and college education departments to run anti-drug awareness drives
- Social Justice Department to promote de-addiction initiatives
- Information & Public Relations Department to amplify outreach on the harmful effects of drugs
He also personally tested the MANAS helpline (1933) and instructed wider promotion of the helpline across schools, colleges, and coaching institutes.
Enhanced Surveillance & Inter-Agency Coordination
Multiple agencies have been tasked with strengthening enforcement:
- Railway Protection Force (RPF) to curb drug movement via rail routes
- Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) to report case progress
- Border Security Force (BSF) to monitor drone-based smuggling along international borders
- Narcotics Department to enhance intelligence sharing
Monthly reporting mechanisms will be implemented to ensure accountability and real-time monitoring.
