Jaipur, April 8, 2026
In a major push towards transparency and digitisation in the mining sector, Rajasthan has launched live testing of automated authorised weighbridges across the state. The initiative marks a key step under Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma’s vision to implement a transparent and paperless mining ecosystem.
The live testing was formally inaugurated by Additional Chief Secretary (Mines & Petroleum) Aparna Arora at a weighbridge facility in Ugriawas, Jaipur. She reviewed the automated system in detail and announced that a user-friendly mobile application for leaseholders and departmental use will be launched soon.
Officials have been directed to ensure on-ground monitoring, coordination with mining leaseholders, and continuous feedback collection to streamline implementation.
Phased rollout underway
- Out of 309 weighbridges identified in Phase 1, live testing has already begun at 130 locations
- The remaining 179 weighbridges will go live by April 20
The department has urged leaseholders to actively adopt the automated system, which is expected to enhance transparency, improve monitoring, and simplify compliance processes.
Digital mining ecosystem taking shape
The automation initiative is part of a broader effort to digitise mining operations. So far, over 10,000 e-Ravannas (electronic transit permits) have already been issued under the new system.
Officials say the move will not only reduce manual intervention and paperwork but also enable real-time tracking and better regulatory oversight between leaseholders and the department.
Next phase expansion
In Phase 2, the government plans to automate 1,019 additional weighbridges, significantly expanding the digital infrastructure across the mining sector.
