At a state-level event organised in Dhamtari, Union Minister for Agriculture, Farmers' Welfare and Rural Development, Shivraj Singh Chauhan, formally launched major development initiatives including ₹2,225 crore worth of rural road projects, the extension of the National Makhana Development Board, and the direct transfer of funds under PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi.
The highlight of the event was the nationwide release of the 21st installment of the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi by Prime Minister Narendra Modi from Coimbatore, followed by the direct transfer of ₹500 crore into the bank accounts of 25 lakh farmers in Chhattisgarh.
In the presence of thousands of farmers and rural representatives, the ceremony signaled a major boost to the state’s development agenda.
₹2,225 Crore Rural Road Projects Launched
During the programme, Union Minister Shivraj Singh Chauhan presented documents related to the newly sanctioned rural road projects under the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY).
These projects will:
Connect 780 villages in Chhattisgarh with all-weather roads for the first time
Lead to construction of over 2,500 km of new rural roads
Strengthen economic activity and market access in tribal and remote regions
The Minister said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership has accelerated infrastructure development nationwide, particularly in rural connectivity.
Makhana Board Benefits Extended to Chhattisgarh
The Union Minister announced that Chhattisgarh will now be included under the National Makhana Development Board.
This will provide local farmers opportunities in:
Makhana cultivation
Processing and value addition
Linking produce with national-level markets
He added that this move will open a new avenue for income generation and agri-entrepreneurship in the state.
Strong Message on Naxalism
Speaking at the event, Union Minister Chauhan said:
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the final nail has been driven into the coffin of Naxalism in Chhattisgarh.”
He emphasized that peace and development are now progressing hand in hand across the state.
Krishak Unnati Yojana Expanded
Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai announced that the expanded Krishak Unnati Yojana will now benefit farmers engaged in:
Pulses
Oilseeds
Maize cultivation
He said this expansion would support productivity, income growth and crop diversification across the state.
