Delhi based, Priyanka Dewan, a Legal professional cum quaintrelle made India proud by winning the title of ‘Top Asia’ at ‘Woman of the Universe’, an international beauty pageant for married women held in Dominican Republic. She had contestants from 32 countries for the title.
Priyanka wore a beautiful flairy beige gown with dazzling hanging earrings for the round. She looked like a queen in the self-designed gown, which was meticulously designed keeping in mind each minute detail. “Considering different colours for all my attires, I chose my favourite beige for this special attire for the finale.
The pageant meant a million dreams to me and I didn’t want to miss out on anything howsoever minute I had woven in my mind by far for this, so began to design this special attire myself”, says Priyanka Dewan, Top Asia – Woman of the Universe. Right from the pletes on top, to the layers at the bottom depicting various facets of womanhood, with a delicate brocade work for that indo-western fusion, to that just net sexy back, Priyanka looked fantabulous. To keep the rich look of the gown intact she just accessorized it with heavy danglers.
The first round of the beauty pageant was the swim costume round with purple theme where Priyanka wore a fur and shimmer mix costume for that sex appeal. For the next round, which was the national costume round, she chose to represent her country’s spirituality depicting as a goddess, a symbol of strength, energy, virtues and faith. “In each of us we have the elements that He has blessed us with. Believing in a force resurrects that oneness, was the thought behind depicting a Goddess”, says Priyanka.
The third round was the presentation round, which is a display of one’s intellect and the social causes a queen has contributed to. Working on women rights, the theme for the year, Priyanka had been actively involved in educating the uneducated women on their legal rights and entitlements, be it property disputes, matrimonial matters, domestic violence issues, etc. The Question–Answer round was exciting, which talked about the essence of age in a love relationship, rights of transgenders and many more. The talent round is what makes the contestant as complete. Showcasing what you are best at, that too on an international level is certainly not a cake walk.
Priyanka represented India’s rich culture of Indian Classical by singing Raag Hameer on high note, which certainly connected her with the jury and audience.
Priyanka at the age of 37 is a well-positioned lawyer whose profession and passion are entirely different. She, with her determination and passion for beauty has successfully turned herself to a beauty queen, and has turned her dream into reality. She also holds the title of Mrs. Royal India Universe International 1st Princess 2018 by Mrs India Home Makers (MIHM).
