Prakash Javadekar presented a report card on the first 50 days of the government’s second term, highlighting key initiatives and policy decisions aimed at achieving the vision of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas.”
Addressing the media, Shri Javadekar said the government has focused on reforms, welfare and justice for all, with priority areas including farmers, soldiers, youth, labourers, businesses, infrastructure, investment, anti-corruption measures and social justice.
The Minister said the government has expanded the ₹6,000 annual income support scheme for farmers and increased Minimum Support Prices (MSP) for several crops compared to 2014 levels. He also announced the formation of 10,000 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) to strengthen the agricultural sector.
Highlighting labour reforms, he said proposed changes in labour codes would benefit nearly 40 crore workers in the informal sector through improved wage protection and labour security. He also noted that pension benefits have been introduced for traders and that Employee State Insurance (ESI) contribution rates have been reduced for both employers and employees.
On the economic front, Shri Javadekar said the government has allocated ₹70,000 crore for recapitalisation of public sector banks and reiterated India’s goal of becoming a $5 trillion economy. He added that a dedicated television channel for startups would soon be launched.
The Minister said the government plans to invest ₹100 lakh crore in infrastructure development over the next five years. He also highlighted the creation of the Ministry of Jal Shakti to address water-related issues through an integrated approach.
Referring to national security and foreign relations, Shri Javadekar said the government has taken effective steps to curb separatist activities in Jammu and Kashmir and has strengthened India’s global standing through forums such as BIMSTEC and the G20. He also mentioned the significance of Narendra Modi’s visits to Maldives and Sri Lanka.
