New Delhi: The Press Information Bureau has dismissed as fake a viral claim circulating on social media and a clip attributed to News18 Bihar, which alleged that LPG refill booking timelines have been revised from 25 days to 35 days.
In an official clarification, PIB Fact Check stated that no changes have been made to the existing LPG booking rules. The government confirmed that the current refill timelines remain:
- Urban areas: 25 days
- Rural areas: 45 days
The clarification came after misleading reports suggested different timelines based on connection types, including claims of 35 days for double-cylinder connections and 45 days for PMUY beneficiaries. Authorities have categorically rejected these assertions.
The government also urged citizens not to panic or engage in unnecessary bulk bookings, emphasizing that there is adequate LPG supply across the country and no shortage concerns.
Further, people have been advised to avoid sharing unverified information and rely only on official government sources for updates. The PIB encouraged users to report suspicious or misleading content directly to its fact-checking unit for verification.
This development highlights the growing challenge of misinformation on essential services and the need for vigilance among consumers.
