NITI Aayog on Tuesday launched ‘Sampurnata Abhiyan 2.0’, a three-month nationwide campaign aimed at achieving saturation of key development indicators across Aspirational Districts and Aspirational Blocks. The campaign will run from January 28 to April 14, 2026, according to an official statement issued by the Press Information Bureau (PIB).
The initiative was inaugurated by NITI Aayog CEO B.V.R. Subrahmanyam in the presence of Additional Secretary and Mission Director of the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme Rohit Kumar, Planning Secretaries, District Collectors and District Magistrates of Aspirational areas, development partners, and officials from NITI Aayog, states, districts and blocks.
Building on the strong outcomes of the Sampurnata Abhiyan 2024, the second phase seeks to intensify focused action across 112 Aspirational Districts and 513 Aspirational Blocks, targeting complete saturation of identified performance indicators under the Aspirational Districts and Blocks Programme.
Under Sampurnata Abhiyan 2.0, Aspirational Blocks will focus on six key performance indicators (KPIs):
Percentage of children aged 6 months to 6 years regularly receiving supplementary nutrition under the ICDS programme
Measurement efficiency of children enrolled at Anganwadi Centres during the reporting month
Percentage of operational Anganwadi Centres with functional toilets
Percentage of operational Anganwadi Centres with drinking water facilities
Percentage of schools with adequate toilet facilities for girls
Percentage of vaccinated cattle (Foot and Mouth Disease vaccination)
For Aspirational Districts, the campaign will focus on five major KPIs:
Proportion of live births weighed at birth
Tuberculosis (TB) case notification rate against estimated cases, covering both public and private institutions
Percentage of Anganwadi Centres/Urban PHCs that conducted at least one Gram/Urban Health, Sanitation and Nutrition Day in the past month
Percentage of schools with functional girls’ toilets
Percentage of vaccinated animals
NITI Aayog has also outlined a list of activities that districts and blocks can undertake as part of the campaign’s launch. To sustain momentum and ensure continuous engagement, districts and blocks have been encouraged to conduct regular outreach activities throughout the campaign period.
