The 79th Independence Day was celebrated with great enthusiasm and patriotic spirit at the National Institute of Food Technology Entrepreneurship and Management – Kundli (NIFTEM-K). The celebration commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Dr. Harinder Singh Oberoi, Director, NIFTEM-K, who also took the salute and inspected the Guard of Honour.
In his Independence Day address, Dr. Oberoi reflected on the significance of India's hard-earned freedom and the responsibility of every citizen to preserve and strengthen it. He announced that this year, NIFTEM-K will place a special emphasis on clean, green, and sustainable living across the campus, fostering an environment-friendly and resource-conscious culture.
Highlighting the institute's achievements over the past year, Dr. Oberoi proudly noted that NIFTEM-K has secured multiple externally funded projects, further reinforcing its growing presence in cutting-edge research and development. He emphasised that innovation is the cornerstone of NIFTEM-K's progress, powering industry collaborations, consultancy assignments, and contract research projects.
The Director also lauded the academic accomplishments of the student community, sharing that two B.Tech graduates have achieved the rare distinction of being directly admitted to Ph.D. programmes at IITs without pursuing a master's degree – a significant milestone for the institute.
Dr. Oberoi extended his heartfelt congratulations to the faculty, staff, and students for their consistent dedication, teamwork, and achievements. He also highlighted that in the past year, NIFTEM-K successfully conducted 13 national-level webinars and 14 national-level events, offering valuable platforms for knowledge exchange, industry interaction, and professional development.
Following the formal ceremony, the celebrations continued at the institute's auditorium with a vibrant cultural programme. Students, along with the children of staff members, presented a colourful and heartfelt showcase of patriotic songs, dances, and performances that brought to life the spirit of freedom and unity. The auditorium resonated with the energy of nationalism, as the audience joined in the celebrations with pride and enthusiasm.
The 79th Independence Day celebrations at NIFTEM-K served not only as a tribute to the nation's history but also as a reaffirmation of the institute's commitment to academic excellence, innovative research, and sustainable development – values that align with the vision of a progressive, self-reliant India.
