Gorakhpur, 26th March 2026: The 71st centre of Software Technology Parks of India (STPI), an organization under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology, Government of India, was inaugurated in Gorakhpur by the Hon’ble Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Shri Yogi Adityanath. This centre is set to accelerate the IT and startup ecosystem in Eastern Uttar Pradesh.
With 71 centres across the country, including 63 in Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, STPI continues to drive technology-led growth. Developed with the support of the Uttar Pradesh Government, the Gorakhpur centre is equipped with modern facilities. It will promote startups and technology companies while fostering innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship.
On the occasion, Hon’ble Chief Minister Shri Yogi Adityanath stated that “this centre will give new wings to the aspirations of the youth in Gorakhpur and Eastern Uttar Pradesh. He highlighted that young entrepreneurs will only need to bring their computers, without worrying about space, electricity, or other facilities. He added that this plug-and-play model has been successful globally and is being introduced in Gorakhpur for the first time, offering a platform for youth to launch startups with ease”.
Hon’ble Gorakhpur MP Shri Ravi Kishan urged “people must learn from the rapidly advancing technology landscape of the country and contribute to nation-building. I encourage youth and entrepreneurs to make the most of this incubation centre”.
STPI Director General Shri Arvind Kumar said that “Gorakhpur will now emerge as a gateway for entrepreneurs from the Purvanchal region to access global markets. Over the past decade, IT exports from Uttar Pradesh have nearly tripled, and this centre will further accelerate growth through incubation, mentorship, and global exposure.”
STPI has been consistently working to support startups through incubation, mentorship, investor connect, and market access. Centres of Entrepreneurship have also been established in domains such as AI, IoT, Blockchain, HealthTech, and FinTech.
The presence of STPI in Uttar Pradesh has significantly contributed to the rapid expansion of the IT sector, supported by policy initiatives and a skilled workforce.
The Gorakhpur centre has been developed by STPI at Plot No. 4 & 5, Sector-7, GIDA, over approximately 3.5 acres of land, with an investment of around ₹20 crore in collaboration with the Uttar Pradesh Government. The facility spans 25,000 square feet and features state-of-the-art infrastructure. It is built as a Ground + 1 structure and can be expanded in the future as needed.

This centre will serve as a strong platform for startups, MSMEs, and IT companies in the Purvanchal region. It is expected to create new opportunities for youth while enhancing digital empowerment and employment in the region.
This initiative marks a significant step towards strengthening the digital ecosystem in the region and reflects STPI’s commitment to inclusive and technology-driven development across the country.
