New Delhi, July 17, 2026: The National Testing Agency (NTA) has declared the NEET UG 2026 results, with 11.21 lakh candidates qualifying for admission to MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and other undergraduate medical courses across India. The results follow the NEET UG re-examination conducted on June 21, after the original May 3 exam was cancelled over an alleged paper leak.
This year, Punjab's Aryan Gupta and Haryana's Panshul Bansal jointly secured All India Rank (AIR) 1 with 715 marks out of 720, while no candidate achieved a perfect score of 720, a first since 2021.
Key Highlights of NEET UG 2026
- Nearly 20 lakh candidates appeared for the re-examination conducted across 5,440 centres in 551 Indian cities and 14 international cities.
- 11.21 lakh candidates qualified for medical admissions.
- 19 candidates scored above 700 marks.
- 138 candidates secured more than 690 marks.
- 1,492 candidates scored 650 or above.
- 10,160 candidates crossed the 600-mark.
- 90,780 candidates secured 500 or more marks.
According to the NTA, over 93% of the top 138 performers were first-time NEET candidates, while 99% of them were between 17 and 19 years of age, indicating strong performances from fresh aspirants.
Women Outperform Men
Female candidates continued to dominate this year's results. More than 58% of the qualified candidates are women, with a 56.8% qualification rate, compared to 55.1% among male candidates.
State-Wise Performance
Uttar Pradesh recorded the highest number of successful candidates, with more than 1.7 lakh qualifiers, while Lakshadweep registered 43 qualified candidates.
The top 17 candidates scoring above 705 marks came from Punjab, Haryana, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Bihar, Tamil Nadu and Telangana.
Regional toppers included:
- Jigmet Yangchan Lamo (Ladakh) – 530 marks
- Dhruv Tripathi (Andaman & Nicobar Islands) – 606 marks
- Fahmida Anees (Lakshadweep) – 573 marks

Cut-off Sees Sharp Rise
Compared to last year, the qualifying cut-off increased significantly across categories.
- General/EWS: 213 marks (up from 144 in 2025)
- OBC/SC/ST: 177 marks (up from 113 in 2025)
Counselling Process Begins Next
Qualified candidates can now participate in the counselling process for MBBS, BDS, AYUSH and allied medical programmes. The Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) will conduct counselling for the 15% All India Quota, while state counselling authorities will manage admissions under their respective state quotas.
