With an aim to give ample opportunities to the talented young cricketers of Navi Mumbai and Thane district, the Navi Mumbai Premier League cricket tournament is being launched.
The league, which will comprise eight teams, aims at giving a platform to the player only hailing Maharashtra.
Young cricketers will have to go through selection trials and they will get to play with several renowned cricketers in this league, which will be held on the lines of IPL.
The players can register their names for the trials by visiting nmplt20.com. These trials will be held on 30 and 31 January 2023 at Belapur Sports Association’s cricket ground.
Speaking about the NMPL, the league’s Chairman Shahalam Shaikh said, “Only players above 16 years of age will be able to register for the trials. A total of 160 players from eight teams will participate in the League.”
Shah Alam, who also holds the post of Joint Secretary of the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA), further said, “Compared to the number of young talents in our country, there are very few prestigious platforms where they get to showcase their skills. Our first aim is to provide a genuine platform for good players to flourish. We aim to give wings to a young talent’s cricket career.”
