New Delhi, August 23: The India-Arab Cultural Centre, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) successfully organized a two-day National Conference titled “India, Central Asia, and the Arab World: History, Politics, and Society”. The Valedictory session of conference held on Thursday, 22nd August 2024 iIn the conference room of the centre. The Ambassador of Algeria to India, Dr. Ali Achoui, was the chief Guest of the event. Prof. Sanjay Kumar Pandey, senior Professor from School of International Studies, JNU delivered his keynote address. The function was also addressed by Dr. Md. Naushad Ali , Dy. Director, Indian Council of Historical Research (ICHR) the agency which funded the conference.
Prof. Nasir Raza Khan, the Director of the Centre and conference convenor, delivered the welcome address, presenting the activities of the Centre and outlining the aims of the conference to the esteemed guests.
During the feedback session, prominent scholars such as Prof. Jagmeet Bawa from Himachal Pradesh Central University, ElifGulbas from Istanbul University, and Prof Gulfishan Khan from Aligarh Muslim University congratulated Prof. Nasir Raza Khan for his dedicated efforts in fostering academic deliberations at JMI. They also emphasized the need for the publication of the conference papers to further the academic discourse initiated at the event.
Dr. Md. Naushad Ali, Deputy Director, ICHR, New Delhi expressed his gratitude to Prof. Nasir Raza Khan for collaboration in organizing the conference successfully. He also assured continued support from ICHR for the Centre and the University.
Prof. Sanjay Kumar Pandey from the School of International Studies, JNU addressed the valedictory session, highlighting the significance of bringing together scholars working on various aspects of India, Central Asia, and the Arab world. He praised the conference theme for its inclusion of Central Asia alongside India and the Arab world.
The Chief Guest, His Excellency Dr. Ali Achoui, Ambassador of Algeria, expressed keen interest in the Centre’s activities. In his brief address, he emphasized the longstanding anti- colonial legacies shared by Algeria and India and highlighted the close connection between the two nations through their mutual support for independence movements across the world.
The valedictory session concluded with a formal vote of thanks by Dr. Aftab Ahmad, Assistant Professor, India Arab Cultural Centre, JMI.
