The closing ceremony of the MP Sports Festival 2025 was held on Thursday at RPS School in Behror, with Union Environment Minister and Alwar MP Bhupender Yadav as the chief guest. Addressing the gathering, Yadav said the government is committed to providing better facilities and resources to players to help them excel at the national and international levels.
The event was attended by Forest and Environment Minister of State (Independent Charge) Sanjay Sharma, Behror MLA Dr Jaswant Yadav, Bansur MLA Devi Singh Shekhawat, Ramgarh MLA Sukhwant Singh, local representatives, athletes, students, and Commonwealth Games 2022 bronze medallist wrestler Pooja Sihag.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a virtual address, said the MP Sports Festival reflects the confidence, enthusiasm, and potential of India’s young athletes. He said the initiative aims to identify talent from urban and rural areas and provide them with platforms to develop their skills.
Speaking at the event, Bhupender Yadav said the festival is inspired by the Prime Minister’s Fit India vision. He said participation in the MP Sports Festival has grown significantly, from around 14,000 players last year to nearly 32,000 this year. Special training camps were organised for outstanding performers, he added.
Yadav also highlighted initiatives such as the Alwar Tiger Marathon to promote environmental awareness and announced plans to upgrade sports infrastructure, including hockey grounds in Shahjahanpur and stadium development in Bhiwadi. He added that e-libraries have been launched across the constituency, benefiting around 20,000 students, with further improvements planned from the 2026–27 academic session.
