Bhopal, March 24, 2026: Madhya Pradesh has launched a 100-day “TB-Free India” campaign on the occasion of World TB Day, with Deputy Chief Minister Rajendra Shukla emphasizing the need to turn the initiative into a mass movement.
Speaking at Gandhi Medical College in Bhopal, Shukla said tuberculosis elimination cannot be achieved through government efforts alone and requires active participation from all sections of society. He stressed that early detection, timely treatment, and proper nutrition are critical to eradicating the disease, adding that awareness and regular screening must be strengthened at the grassroots level.
As part of the campaign, 13,428 focus areas across the state have been identified using predictive analytics. Intensive screening drives will be conducted in these regions, particularly in urban clusters. The government is also deploying AI-enabled handheld X-ray devices to accelerate detection and improve diagnostic accuracy.
Shukla urged citizens, public representatives, and social organizations to actively contribute to the Nikshay Poshan Yojana, which provides nutritional support to TB patients. He highlighted that community involvement will play a key role in ensuring better patient care and recovery outcomes.
The state government reiterated its commitment to strengthening healthcare infrastructure, enhancing access to modern medical equipment, and ensuring adequate human resources so that patients receive quality treatment locally without the need for referrals.
NHM Managing Director Dr. Saloni Sidana noted that the previous 100-day campaign had delivered strong results, and the current phase aims to further improve outcomes through the integration of advanced technologies and targeted interventions.
