Punjab Kesari Haryana reported A major accident occurred last night during the Sanatan Ekta Yatra held in support of Baba Bageshwar Dham Sarkar. Around 15 to 20 devotees were injured when a balcony collapsed on the crowd. Among the injured, several people — including a woman — are reported to be in serious condition. The woman is currently undergoing treatment at the district hospital in Palwal.
The injured and their families have alleged that there are no proper medical facilities available at the district hospital.
The incident took place near Agwanpur village in Palwal, during the Sanatan Ekta Yatra that was traveling from Delhi to Vrindavan Dham. A shop’s balcony and a hoarding placed on the roof suddenly collapsed onto the crowd. A video of the collapsing structure has also surfaced. Some of the injured were taken to Palwal District Hospital in the Bageshwar Dham ambulance accompanying the yatra, while others were admitted to various private hospitals for treatment.
At the district hospital, a woman named Shakuntala was found to have fractures in both thigh bones and multiple bruises on her leg and arm. Along with her, five others — including Harishchandra Sharma, Brijmohan Sharma, and Amarchand Sharma — were also injured. Amarchand Sharma’s condition worsened, and he was referred to another hospital for further treatment.
Shakuntala, who is undergoing treatment in Palwal, said that despite being brought to the emergency ward, there were no emergency facilities available at the district hospital. She complained that even basic tests like blood tests were not being conducted.
Dr. Akshay from the Palwal District Hospital’s emergency ward confirmed that five injured people were brought in for treatment late at night. One woman is still under treatment, while the others have been discharged. He added that they received reports of more people being injured, who were taken to different hospitals for treatment.
