Chief Minister Dr. Mohan Yadav said that Madhya Pradesh has witnessed transformative and unprecedented development in just two years. Addressing a press conference at Kushabhau Thakre Auditorium on the theme “Two Years of Development and Service,” he stated that the public is a direct witness to the pace and scale of progress achieved under his government.
State Declared Naxal-Free After 35 Years
Dr. Yadav announced that Madhya Pradesh has become completely free from Naxal influence—nearly 35 years after extremist activities began. He said that under the guidance of the central government, the state succeeded in eliminating Naxal presence within the targeted timeframe.
In the last 42 days alone, 42 Naxalites have surrendered, while 10 have been neutralized. With the surrender of two more Naxalites yesterday, the total number of active Naxals in the state has fallen to zero.
He commended the police officers who voluntarily chose postings in Naxal-affected regions and achieved their targets through exemplary bravery and commitment. A comprehensive system is being developed to prevent any resurgence of Naxal activity, he added.
Major Water Connectivity and Irrigation Push
Highlighting rapid progress under the National River Linking Project, the Chief Minister said that significant movement is underway across the Ken–Betwa and PKC projects. The government has set a target to irrigate over 100 lakh hectares in the next five years.
Key water initiatives include:
A new sub-project under Ken–Betwa named Mandakini–Chitrakoot, which will enhance water availability and support power generation.
Advancements in the Tapti Mega Groundwater Recharge Project, in collaboration with Maharashtra.
Linking of the Kshipra River through the first-ever under-duct connection between the Gambhir and Kanh rivers.
Dr. Yadav added that agreements under the Parvati–Kalisindh–Chambal (PKC) project, worth one lakh crore rupees—with 90,000 crore funded by the Centre—are propelling large-scale irrigation and water conservation efforts.
Industrial Landscape Undergoing Rapid Transformation
The Chief Minister noted that Madhya Pradesh’s industrial profile has undergone a significant shift:
The state hosted its first Global Investors Summit (GIS) in Bhopal earlier this year.
Investment inflows through Regional Industrial Conclaves have led to new projects, such as a steel plant in Niwari and fertilizer production in Jhabua.
India’s largest pump storage project in Neemuch has been completed within two years.
The first of the seven approved PM Mitra Parks nationwide was inaugurated in Dhar, with land allocation already completed.
Pharmaceutical companies have begun production in Vikram Udyogpuri.
The state is also advancing its aviation ecosystem, with inter-state and intra-state air services now live. Flights from Rewa to Indore and Delhi have commenced under the new aviation policy.
Waste-to-Energy: Turning Waste Into Value
Dr. Yadav highlighted that Madhya Pradesh is converting waste and crop residue into energy, supporting sustainability and circular-economy goals.
Education and Healthcare Expansion
Under the National Education Policy, 55 PM Excellence Colleges have been established. The state now has 52 government and private medical colleges, supported through an attractive PPP model that offers land at a nominal lease.
Other Major Governance Milestones
Settlement of long-standing dues of Hukamchand Mill workers.
Disposal of toxic waste to ensure justice for victims of the Bhopal Gas Tragedy.
Plans to develop Bhopal–Narmadapuram and Indore–Ujjain as metropolitan regions.
Major upgrades to tourism infrastructure at Chitrakoot Dham and Orchha Dham.
Launch of new initiatives including the Baghiya Maa Project and the Gangotri Scheme.
During the press conference, the Chief Minister also released books detailing the government’s achievements over the past two years.
