Ahead of the Kerala Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a strong critique of the state’s two प्रमुख political alliances—the Left Democratic Front (LDF) and the United Democratic Front (UDF)—accusing them of prioritising vote bank politics over governance and progress.
Addressing a public rally in Palakkad, the Prime Minister said that both LDF and UDF have trapped Kerala in a cycle of corruption and lack a genuine commitment to the state’s development. He asserted that only the BJP-led NDA has the vision and capability to meet people’s aspirations and drive meaningful growth.
Modi also offered his “personal guarantee” that a BJP-NDA government would work swiftly to transform the state into a “Viksit Keralam” (developed Kerala). He pointed to the large turnout at the rally as a sign of growing support among the state’s youth, women, and farmers.
Highlighting the Centre’s contributions, the Prime Minister said the Union Government has extended unprecedented support for Kerala’s development and referenced key infrastructure and development projects in Palakkad.
Later in the day, Modi reached Thrissur for a roadshow, where he received an enthusiastic welcome. Passing through the Swaraj Round in a specially designed vehicle, he greeted large crowds gathered along the route. Despite the intense summer heat, thousands of people turned up, reflecting strong public engagement ahead of the Assembly elections scheduled for the 9th of next month.
