New Delhi, August20: The Department of Chemistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) celebrated National Space Day on 14th August, 2024 on the call of the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. National Space Day aims to inspire young minds about the forthcoming adventures in the field of space expeditions.
To commemorate the first anniversary of the successful lunar landing of Chandrayaan-3 on August 23, 2023, the inaugural National Space Day is being celebrated across the country. This day honours the nation’s remarkable achievements in space exploration and inspires future advancements in space technology. The Chandrayaan-3 is a pinnacle for the Indian Space Research Organization, showcasing the nation’s advanced technological prowess and steadfast commitment to space science. This achievement not only advances our understanding of the Moon’s surface and resources but also exemplifies the exceptional skill and innovation of our space scientists and engineers.
The Department of Chemistry, JMI fostered the National Space Day by hosting a poster-making event. The program was very well attended by undergraduate & post graduate students and faculty members of the Department. The program was started as per the cultural tradition of JMI, followed by the poster presentations by students. The posters were evaluated based on their creativity, originality, and relevance to the theme. The outstanding entries were awarded prizes and participation certificates by Prof. Imran Ali, Head, the Department of Chemistry. The program was organized by Dr. Abbul Bashar Khan and ended with the formal vote of thanks by Prof. Tokeer Ahmad. The event successfully provided insights into space expeditions and highlighted the importance of celebrating National Space Day.
