On the very second day after joining Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) as its Vice Chancellor, Prof. Mazhar Asif invited sanitation workers of the university at his office for an interaction. The purpose was to show his respect and gratitude towards them for keeping the university clean and to understand their issues. This is the first time in the history of the varsity that a Vice Chancellor met with sanitation workers at the beginning of his/her tenure itself to make them realise how important they are for the university.
During his address to the sanitation workers the Vice Chancellor said "This is not just a university but our home, our workplace and I request you all to work assiduously to improve its face. It is our collective responsibility to keep our workplace neat and clean as a workplace is God's place and work is worship".
He further said that all employees should have a feeling of belonging for this institution and we all should love each and every thing of this university. The Vice Chancellor assured them that it will be his priority to solve their issues, if any, at the earliest.
