The Institution’s Innovation Council (IIC), Jamia Millia Islamia is organising a two-day Entrepreneurship incubation fest- Staroom in partnership with GAEE Jamia Millia Islamia chapter and Centre for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Jamia Millia Islamia, in pursuit of the mission of Entrepreneurship incubation among college students.
The fest will comprise two events- Piranha Tank- A Startup Investor pitching event, and Formentar- An interactive startup mentorship session.
1. Piranha Tank
The motive of this event is to fuel and incubate the startups owned by budding and young entrepreneurs in their early stages in the form of both funding and mentorship from seasoned investors. The event will test the business acumen of startup founders through two rounds (including the prelims) that will require them to use the skills of Business Ideation & Projection and Investment Analysis, respectively.
a. Screening Round: (Deadline- Sep 3, 2022)
In this round, participant teams will have to submit their startup pitch summary in the doc template provided in the attachment section of Unstop event page to give a level ground to all the participants.
b. Pitching Event: (Sep 12, 2022)
A total of 5 participant teams from Round 1 will be shortlisted for the second and final round of Piranha Tank. In this round, the finalist teams will pitch their startup to investors/ Mentors in the Presentation Room, Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Jamia Millia Islamia, New Delhi. During the round, Investors will measure the lucrativeness of the startup, evaluate the deal offered and will invest accordingly. In addition, the judges will also act as mentors and will guide the teams in developing and improving their startups. Finally, the top three startups will be ranked who will get an authentic certificate by GAEE JMI and the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship.

2. Formentar
A formal Interactive Startup Mentorship Session by Mr Kapil Kaul (Founder and CEO, Indian Startup Factory) and Mr Manish Johari (Sr Vice-President, Agility Ventures).
Structure of Event
Students can write down their doubts and queries related to building start-ups and entrepreneurship on which they seek mentorship in the google form given on the website of GAEE JMI. The final session will be held on 9th September at Jamia Millia Islamia and will be floated LIVE for the attendants on the YouTube handle of GAEE JMI. At the day of the event, the organizing team of GAEE JMI will ask the questions to the mentors- Mr Kapil Kaul and Mr Manish Johari. Mr Kaul and Mr Manish Johari will resolve all the doubts of the budding entrepreneurs apart from providing mentorship.

● Mr Kapil Kaul
Mr Kapil Kaul has more than a decade of leadership experience in vetting scalable and investable startups and SME opportunities. He possesses strong cross-border exposure and hands-on transaction experience in PE / VC, M&A Valuation Methodologies, Restructuring, Startup Advisory, Corporate Development & Strategy, and Business Management. He has an experience of more than 30 investments and over 300 evaluated deals at varied levels of the investment cycle ranging from seed investment to VC and Private Equity.
● Mr Manish Johari
Mr Manish Johari possesses over 32 years of experience in various firms as top executives as well as advisors covering the areas of Fund raising & Growth Strategy consulting for Tech Companies. He is currently the Senior Vice President at Agiity Ventures- the corporate venture arm of Agility, a leader in supply chain services, innovation and investing and has also served as the Vice President at Lead Angels.
With a firm believe that knowledge and opportunity should not be restricted from anyone, the fest will be open to all college students across India.
