Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Faculty of Dentistry, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) organised an online scientific event “DENTIMAGE 2020” to celebrate the International Radiology Day” on 6th November 2020 .November 8, the day that Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen discovered the existence of X-rays in 1895, is recognized the world over as International Day of Radiology.Dr Mandeep Kaur, Professor and In-charge, Oral Medicine and Radiology welcomed the dignitaries and highlighted the importance of International Radiology Day.Prof. (Dr) Shamimul Hasan invited the Vice Chancellor JMI Prof. Najma Akhtar and Dean, Faculty of Dentistry for their address to participants.
Chief Guest of the webinar Vice- Chancellor, JMI, Prof. Najma Akhtar congratulated the organizing team and encouraged such events for exchange of knowledge among institutes.Prof. Sanjay Singh, Dean Faculty of Dentistry congratulated the organizing team and encouraged them to arrange similar scientific sessions in the future.The first speaker was Dr. Sunali Khanna, Associate Professor, Department of Oral Medicine and Radiology, Nair Hospital and Dental Collage, Mumbai. She is a keen environmental health scientist and activist.
Her research highlights importance of environmental health issues in the public sphere.Dr. Khanna delivered her lecture on “Life and Radiological discoveries of Madam Curie- Role Model”. She emphasized the role of Marie Curie and her contribution to the field of Science and technology. She also emphasized on the role of Multidisciplinary research and integrated approach for wider dissemination of science and technology.
The second Speaker, Dr. Manisha Lakhanpal, Professor and Head, Department of Oral medicine and radiology, ITS Dental College, Greater Noida spoke on the topic “CBCT-A necessity, not an option”. She presented a series of interesting cases in dental radiology, highlighting the important role of CBCT in diagnosis and treatment plans. The presentations were extremely informative for the students and were followed by an interactive session moderated by Dr. Shahnaz Mansoori.
