With the beginning of the new academic session at Jamia Millia Islamia, various departments are organising orientation programmes for new entrants.
The Centre for Management Studies (CMS), JMI, conducted an orientation programme for new MBA (full-time) students, where Vice-Chancellor Prof. Najma Akhtar welcomed the freshers and said they were fortunate to be selected among thousands of aspirants. She encouraged them to feel proud of joining JMI, a leading university with improving national and international rankings.
Other speakers included Prof. Amirul H. Ansari, Director, CMS; Prof. Abad Ahmad, Academic Advisor, CMS and former Pro Vice-Chancellor of Delhi University; Prof. Furqan Qamar; and Mr. Abhishek Mittal, Transaction Manager at Ernst & Young. Prof. Qamar is a senior professor and former Vice-Chancellor of the Central University of Himachal Pradesh and the University of Rajasthan, as well as former Secretary General of the Association of Indian Universities (AIU).
The Department of Social Work is also conducting a ten-day orientation programme from 1st August for courses including M.A. (Social Work), M.A. (Human Resource Management), and Advanced Diploma in Public Health (ADPH), coordinated by Dr. Ashvini Kumar Singh, Dr. Asiya Nasreen, and Dr. Lalhmingmawii Gangte respectively.
The programme began with an introductory session by the Head of Department, Prof. Ushvinder Kaur Popli. The new entrants are being familiarised with teaching pedagogy, academic expectations, and other curricular and co-curricular aspects of their respective courses.
