
J&K: Doubling farmers’ income govt’s top priority, says Advisor Khan

In Jammu and Kashmir, Advisor to Lieutenant Governor Farooq Khan has said that doubling farmer’s income within shortest possible time is among the government’s top priorities. The Adviser made these remarks while chairing a review meeting and Kisan Sammelan of J&K Advisory Board for Development of Kisans in Jammu.
The Adviser said, it has been the Government’s endeavor to increase farmer’s income manifold through several schemes and programmes and by reach of farm mechanization to farmers. He maintained that Jammu region has huge potential for floriculture sector and asked the concerned department to involve experts and agriculture scientists for specific seeds so that floriculture farming would get boost. Mr Khan added that J&K Administration is planning to brand different products like Saffron, Basmati rice, Honey etc which could be sold at national and international markets with J&K’s brand name.
