New Delhi, Feb 16, 2026: The National Testing Agency has released the final answer key for Paper 1 (BE/BTech) of JEE Main 2026 Session 1, dropping a total of nine questions. Candidates can now use the final key to estimate their scores ahead of the result, which is expected to be declared today on the official website — jeemain.nta.nic.in.
The final answer key covers examinations held from January 21 to January 28, 2026, and includes subject-wise question IDs and correct responses for Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry for both domestic and international candidates. The objection window for the provisional key closed on February 6, after which the final version was issued.
Exam Overview
The Session 1 examination was conducted in computer-based mode from January 21 to January 29, 2026, in two daily shifts — 9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon and 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. For BE/BTech, the exam took place from January 21 to January 28. Experts and candidates rated the overall difficulty level as moderate, with variations across shifts and subjects. Last year, the January session results were announced on February 11, with 12 questions dropped from the final answer key.
Use of JEE Main 2026 Scores
The scores will be used for admission to undergraduate programmes such as BE/BTech, BArch, and BPlanning at participating government and private institutions across India. Other central and state government organisations may also use the merit list and scores, subject to their eligibility rules and regulations.
Re-evaluation Policy
There will be no provision for re-evaluation or re-checking of results, and no requests in this regard will be entertained.
When Results Will Not Be Declared
Results will be cancelled for candidates involved in:
Use of unfair means (UFM/UMP)
Impersonation
Appearing from an unauthorised centre
Appearing more than once in the same session
Such candidates may also face debarment under NTA guidelines.
Seat Allocation & Admission Process
Admissions will be conducted through the centralised counselling process based on All India Rank and candidate preferences. Document verification — including identity, date of birth, qualifying examination, state of eligibility, category, and disability (if applicable) — will be mandatory. Candidates failing to produce valid original documents, including category certificates for Gen-EWS, SC, ST, OBC, and PwD/PwBD, may be disqualified from admission.
Dropped Questions in Final Answer Key
Out of the nine dropped questions, Physics accounted for seven, while Mathematics had two. No questions were dropped from Chemistry.
