As part of the 105th Foundation Day celebrations, the Department of Civil Engineering, Faculty of Engineering and Technology, Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI), organized a Poster Competition on the theme “Green University Vision 2030: Zero Waste, Zero Emission — Design for a Sustainable Future.” The event aimed to inspire students to envision a sustainable and environmentally conscious campus for the future.
The event was held at the Faculty of Engineering Lawn (opposite the Dean’s office) and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students across various departments of Jamia Millia Islamia.
The competition was organized with the support of the Vice Chancellor of JMI, Prof. Mazhar Asif; Registrar, Prof. Md. Mahtab Alam Rizvi; and Dean, Faculty of Engineering & Technology, Prof. Mohammed Sharif. The dignitaries appreciated the creative efforts of the participants and encouraged students to take active roles in promoting sustainability on campus.
The event was held under the guidance of Prof. Quamrul Hassan, Head of the Department of Civil Engineering, and coordinated by Dr. Abid Ali Khan and Dr. Ibadur Rahman (Faculty Coordinators).
A panel of eminent judges — Dr. Sajid Ali, Dr. Kulsum Fatima, and Dr. Adila Parveen — evaluated the posters based on creativity, innovation, visual communication, and relevance to the theme.

All participants were awarded certificates in recognition of their contributions.
The event highlighted that, “Sustainability begins with awareness, and events like this reflect the students’ commitment to creating a greener, more responsible future.”
The event concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. Ibadur Rahman.
