Chhattisgarh’s Commerce, Industry, Labour, Excise and Public Enterprises Minister Shri Lakhansingh Devangan on Saturday inaugurated development works worth ₹47.5 crore in Korba district. The projects include road construction, college buildings, and school infrastructure. The minister formally launched the works by performing a coconut-breaking ceremony and directed officials and executing agencies to ensure high-quality construction and timely completion.
Korba Mayor Mrs. Sanju Devi Rajput and several other public representatives were present on the occasion.
Among the projects inaugurated are the construction of the Jhagarha–Korkoma–Pasarkhed–Chachiya road at a cost of ₹29.80 crore; upgradation of a 3.40-km stretch between Sakti and Korba at a cost of ₹7.22 crore; construction of the approach road from Ring Road Main Road to Dingapur costing ₹1.87 crore; two-lane road construction from Mudapar to Risdi Bypass via Dadar–Bhalushtaka at a cost of ₹1.58 crore; construction of the Government New College building at Rampur, Korba district for ₹4.65 crore; construction of the PWD Rampur Higher Secondary School building costing ₹1.21 crore; and construction of the Government Higher Secondary School building at Madanpur for ₹1.21 crore. These projects had earlier received foundation-laying approval from Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai.
Addressing the gathering, Minister Devangan said Chhattisgarh was created as a separate state under the leadership of former Prime Minister late Shri Atal Bihari Vajpayee, and the present government is committed to its comprehensive development. He recalled that when Dr. Raman Singh became Chief Minister, the region lagged behind on several development parameters, but during his 15-year tenure, landmark work was done across sectors, earning him recognition as the “architect of development” of the state.
The minister said the continued support of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, Chief Minister Shri Vishnu Deo Sai, and Deputy Chief Minister and Urban Administration Minister Shri Arun Sao has accelerated development in Korba as well as across Chhattisgarh. He informed that development works worth ₹3,000 crore have been approved in Korba district alone under the District Mineral Foundation fund across its four विधानसभा constituencies. He added that in the coming period, all major roads in the district will be upgraded and other civic issues will also be resolved expeditiously.
Development in All Wards Without Discrimination Is Our Goal: Mayor
Mayor Mrs. Sanju Devi Rajput, in her address, said that development without political discrimination across all municipal wards, in line with public needs and aspirations, remains the core objective of the municipal corporation. She said work is progressing rapidly in this direction. The mayor also recalled Minister Devangan’s tenure as mayor, stating that he had established a strong development-oriented legacy in Korba and continues to ensure steady availability of funds for civic development.
