India has strongly objected to Pakistan raising the Kashmir issue at a United Nations forum, accusing Islamabad of politicising the platform and misusing its role as co-chair to advance a national agenda.
Responding to remarks made by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative, Asim Iftikhar Ahmad, India’s Permanent Representative to the UN, P Harish, criticized Pakistan's conduct and said a co-chair is expected to remain impartial rather than pursue partisan interests.
Reiterating New Delhi’s long-standing position, Harish stated that the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir is an integral part of India and remains a matter strictly internal to the country.
The Indian envoy also highlighted ongoing efforts under the UN-80 reform framework, which seeks to enhance efficiency and effectiveness across the United Nations system. India emphasized that discussions at multilateral forums should remain focused on their intended objectives and not be diverted by bilateral political issues.
